About Us

The Gulf Coast Coaching Clinic was established on February 28, 1964, with the purpose of presenting to our area coaches an opportunity to broaden their knowledge of coaching high school football.

Coach Lindy Callahan and Coach Leo Jones were coaching at Gulfport High School, Gulfport, Mississippi at that time. They felt the need for a mid-year clinic to help prepare coaches for the upcoming Spring practice and Fall season.

Never imagining that 56 years later the clinic would not only continue to exist, but would have grown from the humble beginning of 96 coaches in attendance that first year to a record participation of over 788 coaches. For the first clinic, only four vendors participated, representatives of whom continue to support us each year. The clinic now consistently registers over forty vendors.

The G.C.C.C. has grown to attract coaches from all of our southern states. Clinic presenters have come from California, Ohio, Virginia, South Carolina, Arkansas, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

What began as a clinic with only high school presenters now encompasses secondary, Jr. high/middle school, Jr. College and college coaches. It has been touted as being “the clinic with something for everyone.”

The beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast has been home since 1964. Stays have included the Broadwater, Sheraton, Hilton, and Isle of Capri, as well as The Palace. January 25th, 26th, and 27th, 2017 marked theĀ eleventh clinic at the beautiful Beau Rivage in Biloxi. 55 of our clinics have been held on the Coast — the only exception being the clinic following Hurricane Katrina. That year, the Golden Moon in Philadelphia, Mississippi graciously welcomed us, knowing that this would be a temporary move and that as soon as facilities became available, the clinic would return “home.” The Beau Rivage pledged to the people of the Gulf Coast and Mississppi to rebuild and reopen in one year. They made good on their promise and the clinic returned in 2007.
